Mr. Aparicio serves as General Counsel for many high profile, successful businesses and individuals. While handling matters involving Business, Contract Negotiations, Taxation and Estate Planning, Mr. Aparicio has earned a stellar reputation for guiding start-up companies and their respective owners through the potential landmines associated with starting and maintaining a successful business. Mr. Aparicio routinely lays the groundwork for succession planning to ensure the continuity of business success and transfer of wealth to future generations in a tax advantageous way.

While earning his bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Policy and Public Law from Claremont McKenna College, Mr. Aparicio interned for U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein in both her Los Angeles and Washington D.C. offices.

While in Washington D.C., Mr. Aparicio interned under the Senator’s Chief Judiciary Counsel.

During his tenure at Claremont McKenna College, Mr. Aparicio was awarded Research Fellowships for both the prestigious Henry R. Kravis Leadership Institute and Pacific Research and Strategies Institute.

Mr. Aparicio went on to earn his Juris Doctor from the University of California Hastings College of the Law. During his tenure there, he completed the Tax Concentration Program, studying under arguably the best tax professors in the country. His academic work earned him the Witkin Award for Academic Excellence and the CALI Excellence of the Future Award.

During law school, Mr. Aparicio worked as a Legal Analyst for Ajalat, Polley, Ayoob & Matarese, the premier law firm for state and local taxation, participating in the research for two landmark multi-million dollar settlements that successfully challenged both the Cities of San Francisco and Oakland’s city business tax. After covering business and taxation at Best, Best and Krieger, LLP for a short tenure, Mr. Aparicio went on to extern for Presiding Justice Roger Boren of the California Court of Appeal on a variety of criminal and civil matters. Justice Boren awarded him an academic semester clerkship due to his strong academic record, legal writing skills and impressive work ethic.

Fresh out of law school, Mr. Aparicio joined Edison ESI, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Southern California Edison, managing all aspects of the subsidiary’s risk management needs. While spending nearly six years negotiating close to $80 million worth of third-party utility, service, repair, and maintenance contracts, Mr. Aparicio worked closely with Edison International’s Law, Regulatory Policy and Affairs, and Corporate Risk Management Departments to ensure the subsidiary’s compliance with governing financial, legal and business regulations. While at Edison ESI, Mr. Aparicio was selected for both the highly competitive Frontline Leadership and Project Management Certificate Programs.

Mr. Aparicio was honored to have U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein invite him and his family up to her San Francisco office for a private swearing in ceremony. It is the only time Senator Feinstein has bestowed such an honor, and it is believed to be the first time a U.S. Senator from California has ever performed such a ceremony. Mr. Aparicio keeps the personally inscribed Black’s Law Dictionary Senator Feinstein gifted him at his desk at all times.

In his role as General Counsel for his various high profile Business Clients, Mr. Aparicio takes pride in his ability to find more efficient and effective ways for his respective Clients to conduct business that ultimately improve profits, reduce tax liability and promote responsible business practices.

Mr. Aparicio frequently speaks on a variety of legal topics, and most recently was featured as a guest speaker to the Glendale Estate Planning Council and asked to moderate a panel for the 2013 Tax Practitioner’s Conference. He has also served on the board of several nonprofit organizations and puts his fast-thinking to the test in his role as head coach of his children’s little league team.
